Supporting Local Company’s Like General Duffy’s

I ran across this post last night on the General Duffy’s Facebook Page and wanted to share it. There are not a lot of local company’s that are willing to support the car community. So in an effort to support General Duffy’s I want to boost this post for awareness in an effort to support the companies that backs the car community.

So after “anonymous participant’ tried to write a rant about Duffy’s I feel it is important to get my story out to you from me, Susan. Here’s the facts. The artists this year ran between $35,000 to $100,000 regardless of the number of tickets we sell. Our production cost are $30,000 per show (all local companies) . Our media is over $100,000. Our insurance is $100,000. Security, EMTs staff and products (like your beer) all cost us. We keep our tickets so low that 2 of our concerts this year were a loss which is why we increased a beer from $8 to $9 the last show to help with that loss. We donate $16,000 this year to all the wonderful kids and parents from the high school that help these concerts happen. We don’t have multi-million backers like Hayden Homes. We are 3 people and have sponsors who believe in us who help. Dick and I have not made a pay check in 2 years. We live off our retirement from 40 years of working before Duffy’s. Yes, the Blacksmith has hurt our business a lot. Who would have guessed that a business would open 1/2 block away? It has hurt our food trucks the most, with Sally giving notice today after 5 years with us only because of lack of business. Should we keep going? I say “no” but Dick and Tanner have a strong belief in you, our community. They see you faces at the end of a show like Nate Smith or Trace Adkins and grateful people come up and thank us. It makes it all worth the nonstop work. Then we clean up until 1or 2 am. We pay our hard working employees and ask the food trucks how they did, hoping what they make will improve their families lives. What you might not know is that Dick stage 4 prostate cancer has been going on this whole time with treatments continuously even before we open Duffy’s. It’s this business that keeps him alive and make me a bit crazy at times and worries Tanner all the time. Now our fate is in your hands as customers. Is it worth it to you?
