It’s a 1.9 million$ surgery\, so every penny counts. \nhttps://gofund.me/55e035d00 \nHere’s Braxtons story from the start as a summary: \nBraxton was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) in July 2024\, before he was even born. From the moment he entered the world on November 12\, 2024\, his life became a fight for survival. Within minutes of birth\, he was intubated and rushed to the cardiac catheterization lab for an emergency atrial septostomy. He was admitted to the Pediatric ICU at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital\, where doctors were unsure if he would survive the night.\nIn the early hours of November 13\, Braxton became critically ill with severe lactic acidosis and was placed on ECMO\, a heart-lung bypass machine that kept him alive while his tiny body rested. While on ECMO\, he underwent pulmonary artery banding and\, against the odds\, was able to come off ECMO just days later. However\, his fight was far from over. Braxton remained in the ICU for months\, dependent on ventilator support and heart medications.\nIn March 2025\, due to the extreme risk of further surgery\, Braxton was transferred to Stanford Children’s Hospital. Despite the uncertainty\, surgeons were willing to try. On March 28\, Braxton underwent the high-risk Norwood procedure and made it through surgery successfully. Over the following days\, his chest was closed\, and for a moment\, hope felt closer.\nThat hope was tested again in April when Braxton suffered a sudden collapse due to a clot forming in his shunt\, causing his oxygen levels to drop dangerously low. Emergency intervention saved his life\, but he required prolonged intubation and intensive care. After many more setbacks\, including a collapsed lung\, Braxton slowly fought his way back.\nAfter 255 days in the hospital\, Braxton finally came home. But his journey did not end there. Despite multiple catheterizations and stent placements to address progressive pulmonary vein disease\, Braxton’s lower left pulmonary vein ultimately became completely occluded.\nBecause of this\, Braxton is no longer a candidate for further staged heart surgeries. His only remaining options are now a heart transplant or a heart-lung transplant. Through every moment of uncertainty\, pain\, and fear\, Braxton has shown incredible strength\, and his fight continues.
